TL;DR
Conductor, the Mac app that runs Claude Code, Codex and Cursor agents in parallel, is joining Meta, and its announcement of November 4, 2026 sets the dates. Conductor Cloud goes read-only on November 13 and shuts down on November 20, when deletion of Cloud data begins. That is 9 days and 16 days away.
- On Conductor Cloud: move your workspaces to your Mac before November 13, and export your data before November 20.
- On local Conductor: nothing breaks today. It keeps working and gets new models and critical fixes until it starts winding down in early 2027.
- Adding people: sign-ups and downloads stopped on November 4, so a new teammate can't install it.
- If you only run Claude Code: the same setup exists in Claude Code itself, starting with
claude -w feature-auth.
What changes on which date
Sign-ups and downloads have already stopped, and the Cloud dates come next. All of this is from Conductor's announcement, read on November 4, 2026. Unite.AI's report of the same day gives the same dates and discloses no deal terms.
| Date | What changes |
|---|---|
| November 4 | No new sign-ups or downloads. Free users can't upgrade to Pro. Current Pro users keep Pro features at no charge |
| November 13 | Cloud workspaces go read-only. You can read old chats and export data, but you can't send messages. Active subscribers get a refund |
| November 20 | Conductor Cloud shuts down and deletion of Cloud data begins |
| Early 2027 | Local Conductor starts winding down. The announcement's FAQ says all user data is deleted when the app shuts down |
Conductor says it has never sold or trained on user data and won't start. It also promises a new interface early next year, with few details so far.
If you use Conductor Cloud
Treat November 13 as your real deadline, because that is when a Cloud workspace stops taking messages. The announcement names two ways to get your work out, and only the export is promised after that date. Do the transfer first, for anything still in progress, and the export second, for your records.
- Move each live workspace. Right-click a Cloud workspace and choose Transfer to local. The workspace and its chats move to your Mac.
- Export everything. Go to Settings, Account, Export data. Do this before November 20.
If you use Conductor on your Mac
Local Conductor keeps working, so there is no date to hit this month. The change you'll feel first is on the team side: nobody new can download it. If your team's setup assumes everyone runs Conductor, the next hire needs a different path, and that is the reason to choose a replacement before early 2027.
What replaces Conductor in Claude Code
Claude Code has its own parallel sessions, and if Claude Code is the only agent you ran in Conductor, it covers the same ground. These come from Anthropic's docs (worktrees, parallel agents, desktop), read on November 4, 2026. This is a map of the docs, not a head-to-head test.
| What you used Conductor for | In Claude Code |
|---|---|
| An isolated copy of the code per task | claude -w feature-auth creates .claude/worktrees/feature-auth/ on a new branch, worktree-feature-auth |
Your .env in every copy | List the gitignored files in a .worktreeinclude file at the project root |
| One screen for every running agent | claude agents opens agent view. It's a research preview |
| A desktop window with diffs | The desktop app runs parallel sessions with a Worktree toggle, which is off by default. It covers macOS, Windows and Linux (beta) |
| Agents that keep going with your Mac off | Projects, at https://claude.ai/code or in the desktop app, starts parallel threads in the cloud. It's a public beta on Pro, Max and Ultra |
| One big change split across many agents | /batch splits it into 5 to 30 worktree-isolated subagents |
Three things differ from a one-click workspace:
- A worktree is a fresh checkout, so install dependencies in each one.
- New worktrees branch from your default branch. To branch from your current work, set
worktree.baseRefto"head"in settings. - To continue a branch you already have, create the worktree with git, then start Claude in it:
git worktree add ../project-fix fix-issue-456.
Our Claude Opus 4.8 post covers dynamic workflows, the option for jobs too big for a handful of subagents.
If you ran more than Claude Code
Nothing above replaces a single window across vendors, because in every Claude Code approach the workers are Claude sessions. Codex and Cursor each have their own version: the Codex app gives each chat its own Git worktree, and Cursor's Agents Window runs many agents at once, most of them in the cloud, with worktrees available for isolation. Running both means two windows.
Keep the process out of the tool
A tool that runs your agents can get a shutdown date, as this one did, so the less of your process lives inside it, the cheaper the move. Files in your repository move with you. Branches, instructions and review steps kept there still work whichever window starts the agent. Our AGENTS.md setup shows one way to split that process from any single tool.
Frequently asked questions
When does Conductor Cloud shut down?
Conductor Cloud shuts down on November 20, 2026, and deletion of Cloud user data begins that day. Cloud workspaces go read-only a week earlier, on November 13. After that you can read old chats and export data, but you can't send messages.
Does the local Conductor app stop working?
Not yet. Conductor says the local app keeps working and gets new models and critical bug fixes until early 2027, when it starts winding down. Its FAQ says all user data is deleted when the app shuts down.
Can I still download Conductor?
No. Conductor stopped new sign-ups and downloads on November 4, 2026. Free users can't upgrade to Pro, and current Pro users keep Pro features at no charge. A new teammate can't install it from that date.
How do I export my Conductor data?
Go to Settings, Account, Export data in Conductor. To move a Cloud workspace and its chats to your Mac instead, right-click the workspace and choose Transfer to local. Conductor asks for exports before November 20, 2026.
What replaces Conductor for Claude Code users?
Claude Code's own worktrees and parallel sessions. Run claude -w <name> for an isolated checkout, claude agents for one screen of background sessions, or the desktop app for a window with diffs. Anthropic's docs list these under running agents in parallel.
Do Claude Code's parallel features run Codex or Cursor agents?
No. Anthropic's docs say the workers in every approach are Claude sessions, and another tool has to be exposed to Claude as an MCP server. Codex and Cursor have their own parallel features, so running all three means separate windows.
Do Conductor subscribers get a refund?
Yes, according to its announcement. It lists the refund for active subscribers under November 13, 2026, the day Cloud goes read-only. Current Pro users keep Pro features at no charge.
